How do I juice?

Purchase a low-masticating juicer , this ensures that it doesn't heat up to a temperature that kills the beneficial  bacteria needed for this type of thing.

If you do not have a juicer or the want to buy one, you can just by organic, cold-pressed juices from local places. Now, with that being said, this can get expensive quick so a 3 day cleanse might be the best route.

What do I juice?

Anything raw, fresh and organic! Buy in bulk, carrots, apples, oranges, lemons....

And don't be afraid to get creative!

How long do I juice?

3 - 30 days, I would say for newbies that 3 days is plenty. If you would like to do an alkaline eating week and incorporate one day of juicing, that is awesome too!

* Pre-caution: I would check with a healthcare professional or monitor yourself if doing more than a week. Remember that your body chemistry changes during this time. The things you were doing before a long cleanse need to be tweaked to meet your bodies needs during this process like working out, how much water intake , etc. This also will effect everyone hormone levels differently, so best practice is to be either doing a lot of research, or doing this with a functional medicine doctor or holistic nutritionist.

What are the precautions you would need to take if you decided to do more than 3 days of juicing?

You have to slowly add back in fibers. So, blending some fresh, raw food and adding it into the juice is a good way to start. Then the next day you would add some type of seeds (hemp/chia/flax), coconut oil, almond milk ( other alt milks), anything  that sounds good to you. During this time you can add some veggie broth or soups ( no noddles/no meat) somewhere into your day. What we are trying to accomplish? Easing back into your body digesting food, we do not want to shock it. The next day start eating raw foods!  If you have done more than a 7 day cleanse, you will eat raw for  about a week before you eat anything else. Stay away from things like flour ,starches, meat, alcohol for the next 2 weeks or so. If you eat something like this after doing a long cleanse you can actually cause your body to either go into shock or create a blockage in your intestines.

I always listen to my body! After a long cleanse I actually stopped eating meat all-together , my body just doesn't want it anymore and guess what, I am super healthy and I feel super awesome!

What other beverages can I have while juicing?

Okay this is probably super different for everyone who does a juice cleanse, and you can choose what you want to do, but obviously stay away from sugar, cokes, alcohol , juices other than what you're juicing, smoothies, etc.

But, this is me, so here is a list of things I drink: - Herbal Teas ( sometimes with raw, organic honey) * a good dandelion tea or detox tea is great during a cleanse! -Kombucha/Probiotic waters -Mineral Water -Water -Coffee yes, with unsweetened almond milk

Do I still take my regular vitamins/supplements, etc.?

So, if your doctor has placed you on prescription medication, do not stop taking it. In fact, if you have a serious health issue please talk to a doctor before embarking on a juice cleanse.  If you are just voluntarily taking vitamins, etc.....Everything is up to you. If you want to see what your body does without your daily vitamin/supplement regimen then that is up to you as your own body scientist. Just make sure you are aware during this time, mentally physically, emotionally, and spatially.

Why Juice?

Juicing is a re-birthing process for the body. You learn a lot about yourself during this time because it strips away the veil of toxins, giving you a clean, raw feeling. You are more clear, focused, and you reach a space of presence that is different for everyone , but needed. Have fun with your body, mind, and spirit. Be your own alchemist and create your own reality. If you want to hear more about benefits of juicing just look up Dr. Morse, he is awesome!  Check out this video, it will talk a little about how food impacts your body in more than a physical way.

Should I document during my juicing experience?

I think that being aware is enough. You can journal, blog, blog, make videos, you do you!

Stay present and aware, emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
